2007: Second Season In Existance
Charter Members of the Garden State Football League (GSFL)
In the 2006 Off-Season much work was done in recruitment and the fruits of that labor was realized while entering the 2007 Season with 35 truly committed players. Though our roster actually contained about 50 players, it was the Core Group of 35 which allowed for our success in 2007.
While we had solved the problem from 2006 of not having great depth in committed players, we found ourselves in desperate need for quality coaching, and a structure which had not existed in year one.
Unfortunately we were plagued in the early part of the 2007 Season with an uncommitted coaching staff. We had a revolving door situation with regard to Head Coach and Offensive Coordination, and in fact we finished the 2007 Season without the leadership of a Head Coach. Just like in 2006, it was the players themselves who demanded commitment from each other, and allowed for our survival.
Furthermore, we did not even have an Offensive Coordinator until Mid-Season when Jerry Stadler stepped in to bring order to our Offense. Jerry, the father of two Tribe Players had been down to all of our practices as a supporter, and had witnessed our troubles of no coaching first hand. Although Jerry had never coached before, his commitment and dedication quickly gained the confidence of the players, and it was not until this second half of the season that all of our wins had come.
Defensive Coordinator Fred Gerken was the only constant presence from opening day and through out the entire Season.
It was the commitment of our Core Group of players, and the dauntless efforts of Coach Fred Gerken and Coach Jerry Stadler which had allowed our growth into a truly competitive football team by the end of the 2007 Season.
And our story continues...Tribe Football 2008!
