The Tribe Story

The Long Island Tribe was conceived in the hearts and the minds of a few brothers in spirit not long ago.  Semi-Professional Football today is a great escape for those who have done battle on the gridiron in the past, yet have not fulfilled their journey to the professional ranks.  With this in mind, we began to build our semi-professional family with those like-minded individuals who love the game of football, as well as the strong bonds that are built amongst teammates that fight, sacrifice, and survive as one.

Our mission is simple: recruit players with whom we have shed blood in the past, and others who understand that in football you are less likely to sacrifice for yourself as you are for your brothers in the huddle around you.  For this is the ultimate description of a Tribe...a cohesive unit...a family operating and working together for survival and prosperity.  In choosing our name, we sought to convey this great sense of family, and will further incorporate its implications into our organization as a whole.

Since our inception, our motivation has been to make every member of the Tribe...a part of the family.  Each player, coach, and supporter will help us to realize our collective goal.

At it's core, the Long Island Tribe is an organization where commitment is paramount.  Understanding that commitment, sacrifice, and dedication are the foundations for success and enjoyment in this game, we require that each member must be committed to his teammates and our family...the Tribe Football Brotherhood.

Founding Sentiments:

"Reveling in the reality of once again playing the game we love, we did not notice at first that something very important was missing from our Semi-Pro experience.  This realization began to torment us.  We had grown accustom to the love and commitment shared by our teammates in the programs of our school years.  We realized that at the Semi-Pro level this brotherhood and commitment was not at all common, and was in fact very rare, and hard to build.  In the Semi-Pros there are so many different program and discilpine backgrounds coming together, and getting together far less often than that of High School and College Programs.  It was from this realization that the Tribe was born.  We began cultivating our vision of Family Football, and calling upon the many players that we had known over the years, whom we had loved and trusted.  Starting with a core group of committed brethren, the Tribe began to grow, and now still continues to grow with that same mentality, player type, and vision."
